Portfolio Work- The types of Music Video.

In class today we looked at the different styles of music video:- narrative, performance and concept. To start of with we looked at a recent music video that is a big hit today.

This video is a very good example of many styles of music video, as well as it being a parody. After this we looked at theorists concepts, such as Firth or Schwichtenburg.
These are the two main ideas and we discussed whether we agreed or disagreed with them. We then where put into groups to find music videos that fit into one of the three categories. Our group was given narrative and the music videos we came up with were:

• My Chemical Romance- Sing

• Big Day- Toryny

• Slipknot- Vermillion.

• Frank Ocean- Thinking About You

• Arctic Monkeys- When the Sun Goes Down.

  

For next lesson we will have to textually analysis one of the music videos and say why we thought it was a narrative video.
