Portfolio work- Creativity task- Another brick in the wall.

This is our finished video for the creativity task looking at Pink Floyd's song 'Another Brick in the Wall part 2'. I am very happy with thhis video as it gave my group and i a chance to experiment more with the camera equipment and editing software, giving us more techniques for our own music videos. We wanted to keep this video interesting and as we only had two weeks to shoot, this was a challenge. However we managed to film shots of people in the school and we tried our hand at stop animation showing lyrics from the song. However we did lose some footage and had to keep it as it is. As the song is based on conforming in school we shot the whole video in class rooms and school corridors. We also had still images of both teachers and students to show the relationship between the two and to match the lyrics. We also decided to have some small performance elements that we showed in time to the music. In the editing process we used some interesting techniques such as over laying two seperate clips ontop of each other and towards the end of the song we played the footage backwards, which was very effective. We also cut the clips in time with the beat such as the part when the song sings 'wall' and the clip cuts to a black screen, completly in time with the tempo, this was very effective.

Research and Planning- Location ideas for our Music Video.

For our music video, our group are focusing on a musician or group that are of indie, punk/rock genre. After looking at some signed artists music videos i have begun to think of ideas for location. The location would have to reflect the overall atmosphere of the music, (unless you are trying to contradict the music) and from my research i have seen that most common indie, punk/rock music videos are either set out side in a dark forest or underpass or are in an abandoned warehouse or public place such as a busy city street. Here are a few photographs i have taken of possible shooting locations.

There is also the idea of creating a mood or reflecting the mood by weather so we could either film during a storm or rain or using post production to edit the footage to a much darker high contrast quality which would overall create a much darker effect.

Another member of  my group also went out and took images of an abandoned college, which is also ianother possible location.
